The previous weekend, I was living like a VIP at DisneyWorld, with limos and champagne and high class lodging.
This past weekend, I was camping with the girls and friends, slapping mosquitoes, building fires, and getting a sunburn.
I liked both weekends just as well as the other. Both had lots of girl talk and pretty things to enjoy. I’ll show you some of that later. Today, though, I wanted to show you what you might not see everyday in your neck of the woods.
The sign warns us that there are gators present in the area. We actually have a lot of these signs around here, but they’re mostly noticed by national news reporters who always park themselves smack next to one while
scaring our living daylights with their exaggerations giving the newsy details on a hurricane in the Gulf.
Even though we have a lot of alligator signs, we don’t often see gators. They’re pretty shy, and prefer to stay away from people, unless they’ve been taught that people=food. That’s a bad thing for a gator to be taught and even worse for the person who taught it.
Since the boardwalk is under construction, I have our ballerina hold little gal’s hand crossing the bridge. We don’t want to feed the gators! Not that we think we’ll see one.
Oh, but look! What’s that?
I’m trying to get a better shot now…
Great camoflauge. He sure can hide well.
Ah, but here he is…
He stayed perfectly still in one spot, even with the current moving around him. He’s a pretty thing, don’t you think? I mean, in a leathery, creepy-eyed, lump-nosed way.
I’m creating a linky list for what I’ll call Where Do You Live Weekend, because I love every bit of the entire Earth and since I can’t visit all of it, I want you to share your neck of the woods with us. Would you? Please?
On the first weekend of each month (I’ll remind you), post a photo or a blog post about where you live. This can be about just one thing in your area, or your area in general.
Once you post your post or photo, sign the Mr. Linky (it will be added here on Friday, May 2nd) and we’ll all go visit your site and see/read about where you live.
Okay, right now I need to go kayak with two little boys who have been begging me to come for three hours straight (our little guy and a sleepover friend). Later, I’ll work on figuring out Mr. Linky and maybe I’ll even create a little icon thingie for our Where Do You Live Weekend.
