Today’s photography tip, what Works for Me, your self-proclaimed non-expert, is something I picked up just this year, after reading – and learning from – a few other mama bloggers who take photos of things a bit unexpectedly (yes, I’ll give you their links…no, not now, or you’ll get distracted).
Instead of always taking photos of the whole face or of the whole body, centered, of course, as we think we must, how about abandoning those “musts” and taking a few shots of the whole face or the whole body off center or turned away?
Or maybe of the back of the body (-ies) ?
Cool, but what if we lop off body parts entirely?
I would have never had the nerve to take a photo like that one before. I mean, it’s not centered, she’s not facing me, and – gracious – she doesn’t even have a head. But I just know I’m going to treasure that shot forever. She won’t stay so tiny for long. And those itty bitty fingers flaring out like that? Oh. My. I hope she lives with us until she’s at least 42.
Focusing even closer, I capture her little piggies and busy hands. When she’s 42 and still living with us, I’m sure I’ll need these photos to remind me that it was all cute at some point.
Oh, and here you go — it’s fun to take odd photos of yourself, too.

Monday’s tip: Take Lots of Shots. Lots.
Remember! Friday we’re having a link-fest, meme, Mr. Linky thing, so come back then with a link to your photos!
Those mama bloggers I told you about? The ones that will make you leave and never come back because they are so great? Please do (come back). But, okay, here you go…
