Here are 2 of the reasons I'm a mother; the other two don't wear dresses, thankfully, and wouldn't be seen looking into each other's eyes at so close a distance! They are such boys.
It's a wonderful thing to be the Queen of such grateful subjects! I was spoiled rotten today. Our 12yo Ballerina served me a late breakfast of French Toast and coffee in my favorite chair while our 10yo Little Guy powered up the Wii for a Mario Kart tournament (but he didn't let me win). We spent the afternoon canoeing and swimming in the river with our puppy. Tonight, my man brought home Chinese food for dinner.
Throughout the day, I was showered with gifts: dark chocolate truffles, candles, a painting by our 14yo, a clean van ("clean" was the gift; the van is my 1998 Calamity Jane), a classical CD, a $5 bill with a handwritten note, and a big pillow. Isn't that an awful lot? I felt like it was my birthday today, only even better, since my birthday is only 6 days after Christmas and too easy to overlook.
Today I felt appreciated and loved and ready to give, give, give as a mama must for the next 364 days until Mother's Day 2011.
I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, too!
