But it's also true that my setting is sometimes rusty, the camera on hand is most often the one on my phone, and my friends are usually absent and my family uncooperative. All of that is true, too.
I believe anyone can find the beautiful, no matter the setting, the camera, or the people in view.
On Sunday, my teen daughter, her friend, and I exited the theatre into an alley with many other ballet & symphony attendees. The alley was a bit scary, with doors to unknown halls, a fire escape above our heads, a half brick wall, and rusty metal. The symphony attendees hurried through the alley to a safer setting.
The light — oh, the light! The alley was full of the sort of light you'd expect only from Heaven. It made even the alley – the fire escape, the rusty metal and all – beautiful. The photo above is from that beautiful afternoon. Today, I bumped into the Emerson quote that fits my thoughts so well.
